A journey through the history of the Earth and of life. The Natural Sciences Museum in Piatra Neamț is devoted to studying, preserving and sharing the natural heritage of Neamț County, a region known for its rich geology, fossils, plants and wildlife.
Founded on 1 September 1960, the museum was conceived as an institution for studying and preserving the natural heritage of Neamț County.
In 1961 the historian Iulian Antonescu and his wife, the teacher Eugenia Antonescu, donated the building that still houses the museum today, so that it could become a place of science education for the public.
Officially opened on 15 November 1969, the museum was regarded from the start as a model of Romanian museum practice.
