A cultural landmark in the heart of the old town, within the grounds of the Princely Court. The Piatra Neamț Art Museum offers an elegant journey through the development of Romanian visual art, from classical to contemporary.

About the museum

The art collection goes back to the work of Father Constantin Matasă (1878–1971), founder of the Archaeological Museum. In 1960, with the support of the painter Iulia Hălăucescu, an Art Section was set up. In 1980 it became an institution in its own right.

The collection includes:

  • Classical and contemporary Romanian painting
  • Graphic art and drawing
  • Modern sculpture
  • Decorative tapestry
  • Temporary exhibitions and retrospectives
