Ecosystem and biodiversity

Although it is man-made, Bâtca Doamnei has become a living ecosystem over time. It is part of the chain of lakes that forms the eastern Carpathian migration corridor, together with the Vaduri and Pângărați lakes. The area matters a great deal for preserving biodiversity and natural habitats in Eastern Europe.

The lake and Ceahlău

A link with history

Near the lake rises Bâtca Doamnei Hill, home to the ruins of the Dacian fortress of Petrodava, one of the most important strongholds of the free Dacians east of the Carpathians.

Here nature, history and the spirit of the place come together in a single landscape.
